Tall, stiff spikes of purple-pink (and the occasional white) bottlebrush blooms rise above tufts of grassy foliage. Once established, can form clumps of corms and reach 2’-4’ high. Perennial to zone 3, native plant.
Growing conditions: Tolerant of soil types, prefers well-drained soil and full to part sun.
Sowing instructions: Can be direct seeded in fall or spring, or start seeds indoors in seeding medium no more than ¼” deep. Can be slow to germinate, cold stratification can improve germination rate.
Stewardship chain: Seed gathered from plants grown at Esperanza Farm, a certified organic farm in Limington, Maine.
